I can’t wait to see how I can serve the mission of your ministry.
My name is Raissa Kubandi-
My family is originally from the Democratic Republic
of Congo but in 2002 we moved to a little city north of Atlanta called Johns
Creek. My parents, valuing education as they did, did everything in their power to raise their children in the Johns Creek community. Despite coming to this country with very little and constant struggle to make it as immigrants, my parents’ devotion to family and faith have shaped me from the inside out.
In 2010, I graduated high school and immediately attended Atlanta Leadership College. ALC was a ministry school based out of Victory World Church. My time there allowed me to take a multi-faceted approach to my education and my career; I earned a bachelor's degree in Biblical Counseling while gaining valuable experience in student ministry. In that time, I managed event logistics, preached at multiple locations, and established a student leadership team.
After ALC, I started working at Mount Paran Chruch as the Associate High School pastor. Over the three years in that role, I established a student leadership team of 75 students, led an outreach program at Campbell High School, which grew from 10 students to 50, and spoke regularly. In 2017, I took over the Middle School Ministry of 175 7th and 8th graders. In 2019 I started traveling to preach, and I have spoken to thousands of students throughout the Southeast.
In 2021 I took my next step in Ministry by becoming the Home Mission’s Pastor at Mount Paran. My primary area of focus was serving the community of East Point through generosity, partnering with community leaders, and working with schools to serve their families and students.
Like many of us, 2020 was a season where God was shifting our priorities and refining our vision. At that time I sensed that God wanted to do something new, and in August of 2021, I saw what it was. I accepted the role of Student and Young Adult Pastor at Denver United Church. Students have always been my passion, so I am excited to be back in full-time student ministry and expanding into college and young adult ministry.
I met Jesus before I was 10, and committed my life to him at 19. In the years between the introduction and the commitment, Jesus was revealed to me through sermons, worship, conversations, and relationships. That’s what drives my personal ministry. My hope is to spend the rest of my life being a mark in the world-shaking stories God is writing in the students around me.
